The Strokes Announce the First Date of Their 2019 "Global Comeback"

It's been nearly two years since The Strokes last performed live, but it looks like the drought will soon be over.

The New York rockers are slated to perform at Bilbao BBK Live Festival in Bilbao, Spain next summer, which will mark their first concert since April 2017.

Thom Yorke, Weezer, Hot Chip, and Julian Casablancas' side project, The Voidz, are just a few of the other big names playing the festival, with more to come. Bilbao BBK Live Festival will run July 11-13, 2019 and will "kick off their global comeback" a press release promises, so keep your eyes peeled for more tour date announcements.

Although the band hasn't done much in the past couple years, its members have been plenty busy. Casblancas put out Virtue, his sophomore album with The Voidz, last March, and guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. released his fourth solo album, Frances Trouble, the same month. Journalist Lizzy Goodman also chronicled the band's early years in a new book called Meet Me in the Bathroom, which was published in November.

The Strokes' last album, Comedown Machine, came out in 2013 so perhaps 2019 will also see new music from the band? Our fingers are crossed!
