Chris Cornell's Son Plays Late Father in Poetic 'When Bad Does Good' Video

On Friday (November 16), Chris Cornell's estate celebrated the release of a retrospective self-titled box set by sharing the video for "When Bad Does Good," one of the previously unreleased songs on the extensive album.

The late rockstar's son, Christopher, portrays his father in the poetic Kevin Kerslake-directed clip. He rides through the streets of Seattle delivering newspapers — a job held by his dad in his youth — while lyrics scrawl across pavement and some of the landmarks associated with the Soundgarden frontman's music.

“For me this video represents my dad and all the art he created throughout his life and what his music meant then and what it means now, not just to me and my family but the city of Seattle and all of his fans,” Christopher said in a statement.

“I wanted to highlight an aspect of Chris’ talents often overshadowed by his more obvious virtues (e.g., his monstrous guitar chops, operatic vocal range or commanding physical presence), which is his place as one of this generation’s greatest lyricists…." Kerslake added, "but do it within a specific context that turned a simple, straightforward journey through the streets of Seattle into a eulogy, of sorts, with mystical undertones.”

Earlier this week, Cornell's family announced a tribute concert called I Am The Highway, which will feature members of his bands Soundgarden,  Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog, as well as performances by  Foo Fighters, Metallica, and Ryan Adams to commemorate Cornell.
